Miles Leaving Coaching Ranks

May 8, 2006

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University head football coach Mark Snyder announced today that assistant coach Shaine Miles will be leaving the coaching staff to pursue a private business venture.

Miles, who has served as tight ends coach at Marshall for the past three seasons, will own and operate a new Chick-fil-A resturaunt in Ashland, Ky.

"This is a move that my wife, Vanessa, and I felt was best for our family. We both love this area and having the opportunity to stay here and work for a great company really appealed to me," Miles said. "Marshall has become a second home for us and is near and dear to our hearts. I really enjoyed working for coach Snyder this past year and I appreciate everything he has done for me and my family. I am confident that he will lead the Herd to new heights."

The Miles' first child (Brock) was born on December 20 of last year.

"No matter what Shaine would have decided (to coach or go into business), I know he would be successful, because of his values and work ethic," Snyder said. "Shaine and Vanessa will always be part of our football family and I wish them the very best."
