DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University head football coach Mose Rison has added a "big time" running back to his list of recruits for the upcoming 2008 gridiron campaign.

On Monday (Feb. 11), Rison announced the signing of Anthony Council, a 6-1, 200-pound running back from Goldsboro High School. A 2007 First Team All-Eastern Plains Conference selection, Council was the fourth-leading rusher in North Carolina with 1,829 yards (182.9 yards per game) and 23 touchdowns on the ground as a senior.

"We are so glad that this young man has decided to become a part of this football program," Rison said. "He is a big time player. He has great size and strength, runs a legitimate 4.4 in the 40-yard dash, has great vision and has the ability to take it the distance at any time."

Council's big play ability is proven by his 11.3 yards per carry average and a long touchdown run of 93 yards. As further proof, on Nov. 2, 2007, Council rushed for 314 yards and four touchdowns versus North Pitt.

Goldsboro High School posted an 8-2 record in 2007.
