STILLWATER, Okla. (www.okstate.com)  -  The signatures of two of the top 50 high school players in America and one of the nation's top junior college players highlight the 2007 Oklahoma State football recruiting class, announced Wednesday by Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy.

Among the class of 23 newcomers are three players who were named SuperPrep All-Americans in 2007, one athlete honored as first-team All-America by the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the fourth Parade All-American to sign with Oklahoma State since 1985.

"It's a balanced class that leans a little toward the skill positions on both sides of the ball," Gundy said. "We are going to lose a lot of people next year at receiver, and we needed some help there. We also needed a good year numbers wise on the defensive line, and I think we've done that."

Receiver Dez Bryant and defensive end Richetti Jones were among the top-rated players in the country at their positions. Both were SuperPrep All- Americans, with Bryant also a member of the prestigious Parade All-America team. That duo, along with athlete William Cole, provides Oklahoma State with three of the top 15 players in the state of Texas, including two of the top 10.

Overall, eight of the top 100 players in Texas signed with the Cowboys with 16 student-athletes from Texas included in the class total. That number includes Deron Fontenot, who signed with OSU last February, but did not enroll until January of 2007 due to injury.

"All of our coaches have a geographical area of Texas in regards to recruiting," Gundy said. "It's where the large population areas are, and there is obviously a large talent pool there. It provides you the chance to land some quality players, and this year, a chance to land some great players."

Oklahoma State also fared well within Oklahoma with one of OSU's three SuperPrep All-Americans, linebacker Jared Glover from Bixby, hailing from within the state borders. Other state products are Mustang receiver Josh Cooper and Heritage Hall defensive lineman Quinton Prince.

"We had a good year in Oklahoma, and we're very excited about that," Gundy said. "We were able to sign some great players and some great people. We're very excited about their futures.

"Jared Glover could be a standup linebacker or defensive end and Josh Cooper can do a whole lot of things," he added, "and Quinton Prince is a 300-pound athlete."

OSU signed one junior college player in 2007 after signing two last year. However, the 2007 signee is a headliner. Defensive tackle Tonga Tea, Jr., is considered the nation's top junior-college defensive tackle by one service, and is a first-team All-America honoree.

"We want junior college players that can make an impact," Gundy said of Tea. "That's what we had last year with Dantrell (Savage) and with Adarius Bowman, who was like a junior-college player in that he had two years to play. Tea can help us immediately."

Tea, Fontenot, and linebacker Kenny Alexander are members of the 2007 class that are currently attending classes at OSU and will participate in spring workouts when the Cowboys hit the field on March 5th.

This year's class could mark the second straight in which OSU's newcomers have been ranked among the top 20 in the country by at least one recruiting service. It would also mark the first time OSU's recruiting classes have been ranked among the nation's top 20 in consecutive years.
