HONOLULU (AP) - Record-breaking Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan called off a second news conference in as many days Tuesday to announce whether he would skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Struggling to make a decision, Brennan declared himself eligible for the draft Monday as a formality to meet the NFL deadline, but postponed a scheduled news conference that day saying he may still return to the Warriors.

"Because this is such an important decision that will have a big impact on what happens in my life, I want to take the maximum amount of time that is allowed to make my decision," Brennan said in statement.

His press conference Tuesday was called off 2 1/2 hours before the scheduled start and was moved to Wednesday. He has 72 hours since the NFL filing to withdraw his name.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing," he said. "I don't mean to keep people waiting in anticipation, but I just want to make the best and most informed decision possible."

Brennan finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting and has been told he could be the third quarterback taken in the April draft behind Notre Dame's Brady Quinn and LSU's JaMarcus Russell.

Brennan, who broke the NCAA single-season touchdown and passing efficiency records last month, led Hawaii to an 11-3 season - matching the school mark for wins.

He set the NCAA mark for touchdown passes with 58, including five in Hawaii's 41-24 victory over Arizona State in the Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24. Brennan finished the game with a school-record 559 yards passing.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior, who backed up Matt Leinart at Mater Dei High School in California, led the nation in TD passes (58), passing yards (5,549), total offense, passing efficiency (186), points responsible for (348) and completion percentage (72.6).

Brennan also rushed for 366 yards and five TDs this season.
