LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm was expected to announce Monday whether he'll return for his senior season or enter the NFL draft.
A news conference was set for 9 a.m. Monday at the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex.
Brohm, a Louisville native, was the Most Valuable Player in Louisville's 24-13 win over Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl. He threw for 3,049 yards and 16 touchdowns this season for the Cardinals, who went 12-1 and won the Big East championship. Louisville finished sixth in the final AP poll, tied for the school's highest-ever final ranking.
If Brohm returns, he'll be coming back to a team with a far different look next fall. Head coach Bobby Petrino left Jan. 7 to coach of the Atlanta Falcons, and running back Michael Bush opted to enter the draft rather than accept an NCAA medical redshirt after breaking his leg in the season-opener against Kentucky on Sept. 3.
Former Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe took over for Petrino on Jan. 9. Kragthorpe also retained Jeff Brohm, Brian's older brother, on the Louisville staff. Jeff Brohm, who was the quarterbacks coach under Petrino, will remain at Louisville as an assistant head coach and passing game coordinator.
