Prediction
I think this will be close early thanks to the efforts of West Virginia, but toward end of the third and fourth quarter, Oklahoma will start running away with it. From a physical standpoint, Oklahoma eventually will dominate. In the end I don't think it'll be that great of a game.

Special Teams/Coaching
Obviously you give the benefit of the matchup to Bob Stoops. He's consistent year in and year out. It's a staff that's had turnover, but talk about coaching trees and you have to talk about Stoops'. Mark Mangino, Chuck Long, Mike Stoops, Bo Pelini, yet they continue to be very consistent on both sides of the ball. That says a lot about Stoops and the staff. He gives them the freedom to do their job and I'm fairly confident saying Oklahoma has best coaching staff.

West Virginia O vs. Oklahoma D
It's interesting to me that the OU players, at least in my mind, haven't gotten the national pub some of other schools have. I have to tell Curtis Lofton, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, is so good. And he's not the household name some other defenders are. Auston English is a really effective player. And I think they're much better than we know them nationally. I'm excited to see Oklahoma's speed and its ability to play in space because that's an important thing when it comes to defending West Virginia. Something wasn't quite right with Steve Slaton down the stretch. It's really going to come down to whether Pat White can throw against the OU secondary. He's underrated throwing it. The best thing they can do is get White to the outside and have him throw on the run. He'll tuck it sometimes, but I don't think West Virginia matches up well with Oklahoma.

Oklahoma O vs. West Virginia D
Across the board Oklahoma is more talented. They have more depth and better players. But the one thing about West Virginia is that Rich Rodriguez recruited a certain type of player, kids with chip on their shoulder, kids with something to prove. Guys like Slaton and White. The Mountaineers are sort of overachievers and you throw into the fact Rodriguez left, they have something to really prove, that it isn't only Rodriguez. From an athletic standpoint, Oklahoma is better. From a motivational standpoint, West Virginia has the edge. But Oklahoma could blow this game out because they're better offensively. Sam Bradford is one of the more unheralded quarterbacks. That Colorado loss was a fluke. Oklahoma has the ability to do whatever it needs to do. Bradford can beat you or the running game can beat you. The offensive line has done a nice job. I don't see West Virginia being able to stand up. I think they'll get run over a little bit.

Prediction
Oklahoma is going to kill them. It's going to be a blowout. It's not going to be close. West Virginia will be without its coach and once Oklahoma hits them in the mouth it's going to be over early.

Special Teams/Coaching
Well, who the hell is going to coach West Virginia? You have to give it to Bob Stoops. He's played for a bunch of national titles and won five Big 12 Championships. It's all Bob Stoops.

West Virginia O vs. Oklahoma D
West Virginia is one dimensional. I've been saying it all year long. Yes, they won a ton of games, but they're one dimensional. They're not powerful enough to beat an Oklahoma defense that is big up front and puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback. Now you're going to let the Sooners defense pin their ears back and play against the run? That's what they do all the time in Big 12. Sooners are going to be licking their chops to get after Steve Slaton and Pat White. There's no threat of the pass so they can lock up man to man. Although if there has been one disappointing spot for Oklahoma it is the secondary. You can't be one dimensional against this defense. Oklahoma's defense should kill them.

Oklahoma O vs. West Virginia D
Oklahoma's offense, with the way it has been running this year, should make this game a blowout. Everyone's talking about Illinois vs. USC being a blowout, but I think this is the game. You have to factor in the layoff for Oklahoma, but they're playing such good football right now. They're another one of those hot teams right now. That's why we need a damn playoff. Allen Patrick and Chris Brown run the ball while Sam Bradford is a every accurate passer, the owner of the highest passer rating in college football. I like their offense and I think the big boys up front can push around the West Virginia defense. Name one superstar on the West Virginia defense? They're good, but they can't handle Oklahoma up front. Don't forget about those big OU receivers.

Prediction
In my bowl picks, you'll see I picked West Virginia. But with Rich Rodriguez out of the mix I think Oklahoma finds a way to win. In bowl games, if the coaching situation is up in the air you always pick against the team with the question mark.

Special Teams/Coaching
See above. Bob Stoops has been around the block a bunch of times and Rich Rodriguez is no where to be found. That is a huge advantage for Oklahoma.

West Virginia O vs. Oklahoma D
I love West Virginia's offense, but they haven't clicked this year like they have in the past. Remember two years ago when West Virginia played Georgia in the Bulldogs' backyard and gave them a beat down. That's what I thought would happen here, but without the emotional lift from Rodriguez I wonder what kind of performance Pat White, Steve Slaton and the gang will put up. Oklahoma's defense isn't the best unit they have ever had, but they are very strong up front against the run.

Oklahoma O vs. West Virginia D
These are the two units that aren't each team's strengths, but they are pretty darn good. Sam Bradford is the best freshman quarterback in a very long time and he should have some opportunities to hook up with Malcolm Kelly and the rest of his targets. West Virginia's defense has been good all year, ranking near the top in most defensive categories, but they haven't played many top opponents. I think this will wind up being a lower scoring affair than many people think.
