WASHINGTON (AP) - Sophomore forward Mike Sweetney scored a career-high 30 points before leaving with an injured left ankle and No. 18 Georgetown beat winless Morgan State 91-65 Monday night.
Wesley Wilson added 18 points for the Hoyas (7-1), who improved to 15-0 against Morgan State, their most victories against an opponent without a loss.
Randy Dukes led Morgan State (0-7) with 22 points, while Curtis King had 15.
The Bears, two games into a season-long seven-game road trip, are still searching for their first victory under first-year coach Butch Beard.
Morgan State stayed even until Sweetney scored seven straight points midway through the first half to erase a 17-15 deficit.
Sweetney, who finished with 13 rebounds, scored 18 of his 19 first-half points over the final 9:20 as the Hoyas took command.
The Bears benefited from Georgetown's 5-for-16 start from the field, taking a 17-15 lead with 9:38 left in the first half on Stan Grandy's driving layup.
From there, the Hoyas rediscovered their dormant inside game, winning their sixth straight behind Sweetney's 10th career double-double.
Sweetney reeled off a three-point play, a putback of Harvey Thomas' miss and a baseline slam dunk off a pass from Thomas over the next 54 seconds and Georgetown never trailed again.
The 7-0 burst jump-started a 24-13 run that gave Georgetown a 39-30 halftime lead.
The Hoyas put the game away with a 17-5 run early in the second half, then Sweetney's three-point play capped a 7-0 run for a 74-49 lead with 9:53 left.
Sweetney left the game with 6:17 to go with a bruised left ankle.
