Corey Raji Earns ACC Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman forward averaged 15 ppg in two victories

Freshman forward Corey Raji earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in victories over Saint Louis and Maryland last week. The weekly award, announced by the league office, is decided by a vote of a 10-member media panel.

The freshman forward shot 10-for-12 from the field, 3-for-4 from three-point range and 7-for-9 from the foul line in the two games.

Raji totaled 13 points and seven rebounds - both team highs - in a 61-39 home win over Saint Louis on Dec. 4

Five nights later, in his ACC debut, Raji registered 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field (3-for-3 from three-point range) and three rebounds in 18 minutes of action at Maryland. He came off the bench to score 12 consecutive BC points in a 3-minute, seven-second stretch in the second half. His surge brought BC from 43 points to 55 points, and made a 43-43 score into a 55-49 BC advantage. BC won the game, 81-78.

Boston College (7-1) returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 12 against Massachusetts. Game time is 9 p.m. in Conte Forum.
