AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - There was no letdown for the streaking Texas Longhorns.

D.J. Augustin had 29 points and 10 assists and No. 4 Texas ran its record to 8-0 with an 88-72 win over North Texas on Wednesday night, three days after pulling off one of the Longhorns' biggest road wins in recent years at UCLA.

A..J. Abrams added 23 points for the Longhorns, who cruised to a big early lead, and then watched North Texas cut it under 10 in the second half before pulling away down the stretch.

Texas has started 8-0 twice in the last three seasons. If the Longhorns get to 9-0 on Saturday night against Rice, it will be their best start since the 1981-82 season, when Texas won its first 14.

Damion James added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Texas. Josh White led North Texas (5-2) with 28 points, hitting six 3-pointers.
