2003 Graduate David West Named To A Sports Illustrated All-Decade Team

West Was A Three-Time Atlantic 10 Conference Player Of The Year

Sports Illustrated has released its newest book, which is entitled Sports Illustrated: The Basketball Book, which features 2003 Xavier graduate David West on its NCAA All-Decade Team for the decade beginning in 2000.  West is joined on the All-Decade Team by Connecticut's Emeka Okafor and three Duke players, Jason Williams, J.J. Redick and Shane Battier.

West, the 2003 Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Year, averaged 20.1 ppg. and 11.8 rpg. as a senior while leading XU to its second staright 26-6 season.  West led Xavier to 94 wins in his four seasons while finishing as Xavier's all-time blocked shot leader (228 blocks) and second on XU's all-time scoring (2,132 points) and rebounding (1,308 rebounds) lists.  West, a three-time selection as Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year, is now a star in the NBA with the New Orleans Hornets.

The book contains a collection of basketball stories and photographs from the professional leagues and college. It has more than 300 photographs from SI's archives as well as award-winning writing that covers the epic teams, outstanding players and remarkable performances. The book is full of photographs, stories, history and  All-Decade team lists for the NBA, ABL, ABA and both the men and women for the NCAA.
