The Hornets (2-2) were the first to score and for the rest of the game the Trojans (4-3) never managed to take the lead.
Hayles also had six assists, six rebounds and six 3-pointers. Dustin Richmond added 17 points to the Hornets' score, including four 3-pointers. Joel Bosh, who scored the game's first and last points, chipped in with 12 points.
O'Darien Bassett led the Trojans in scoring with 15 points, followed by Richard Chaney with 14 and Sammy Sharp and Cedric Jackson with 10 each.
