* HOW WERE WE CLOSE?
San Diego State led by as many as 13 points and led an overwhelming majority of the game despite shooting just 35.3 percent from the field... In fact Arizona State shot 57.1 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent from three-point range (that is higher than San Diego State's overall field goal percentage) in the contest... No opponent shot that well against SDSU in a game last season... SDSU is now 16-45 in the Fisher era when an opponent shoots 50 percent or better from the field... The Aztecs missed 33 field goal attempts in the contest, while Arizona State missed 15 shots.

* ON THE PLUS SIDE
San Diego State recorded advantages in rebonds (27-23), including 14-3 on the offensive glass and turnovers (10-13).

Spain made 4-of-8 three-point field goal attempts in the contest... He is now 6-for-12 from bonus distance on the season... The four three-point field goals tied his career-high, originally set against Utah (1-16-08)... It was his 19th career multiple-trey game... The 17 points are a season high and are just five points off his career high... This marked the 10th time in Spain's career that he has led the team in scoring.

* BILLY WHITE (12 points, 5-7 FGs, 4 rebounds, 2 assists)
White made 5-of-7 field goals in the game and is now at 11-of-17 for the season (64.7 percent)... Last season, he set the school record for field goal percentage at 61.5 percent... In his career, the sophomore has now shot 50 percent or better from the field in 26 of 33 games in which he has attempted a shot... White has reached double figures in both games this season, matching the second-longest streak of his career... He will attempt to match his personal record by extending the streak to three on Saturday.

* RYAN AMOROSO (7 points, 7 rebounds)
Amoroso made his first start of the season, 32nd of his Aztec career, 40th of his career... The senior led the team in rebounding with seven, marking the 15th time he has been the SDSU leader in the category. .. Dating back to last season, Amoroso has recorded seven or more rebounds in consecutive games and five times in his last seven games.

* D.J. GAY (7 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal)
Gay led the team in assists for the 10th time in his career and the first time since Feb. 13 of last season vs. New Mexico... With a three-point field goal tonight, he extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one trey to 14.

* RICHIE WILLIAMS (7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists)
Williams was 3-of-6 from the field, marking fourth time in his last five games dating back to last season that he has shot 50 percent or better from the field... With five rebounds in the opener and six rebounds tonight, the senior has posted consecutive outings with five or more boards for the first time since his sophomore campaign... Williams' start tonight was the 78th of his Aztec career, the eighth highest total in recorded history.
