JUCO Rankings: Class of 2007

CSTV.com's Fall JUCO update

By Van Coleman

CSTV.com and Hoopmasters.com

The Junior College season is just getting underway and traditional powers like Midland (Tex.); Chipola (Fla.); Indian Hills (Iowa); Redlands (Okla.); Arizona Western (Ariz.); Tallahassee (Fla.); San Jacinto (Tex.); Iowa Western (Iowa); and Mt. San Antonio (Calif.) are looking to make runs at their state, regional, and national titles.

However, it's the players that will ultimately determine who emerges as the top teams this winter.  Even though a number of the pundits have written off the junior college talent nationally, there is more talent there than those scouts and analysts give JUCO ball credit for.  They are a significant part of the recruiting scene and are in many cases keys to the success of a school's recruiting class.  This year will be no exception to that rule.

At the top of our Pre-Season Junior College rankings are a number of players who fit the above description of key players.  Heading our list is a quality scoring forward in 6-8 Dustin Scott from Tallahassee CC (Fla.). He has tools to play inside or out and can make an impact at the high major level.

We go out west for our No. 2 prospect in athletic combo guard Rishawn Norwood from Mt. San Antonio CC (CA).  He is an explosive scorer with combo skills, who many on the coast feel can play in the NBA some day.

Tough and athletic 6-foot-7 combo forward Charley Coley from Dodge City CC (Kan.) is the Jayhawk league's best.

Right behind him are two early backcourt commitments in 6-foot-5 Chipola CC (Fla.) wingman Jamarcus Ellis, who will sign with Indiana, and 5-foot-11 point Steve Harley from South Plains CC (Tex.), who has already decided to sign with Nebraska.

And the list goes on with talent that can contribute in college basketball. Check it out for yourself!
