KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee forward Duke Crews, who started 18 games as a freshman last season, has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

"Duke is a very intelligent student-athlete but has made some poor decisions," coach Bruce Pearl said Wednesday in a release. "It is in his, as well as the team's, best interest that he is suspended at this time."

Pearl didn't elaborate on the violation.

Crews averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds while leading the Vols in blocked shots (32) and field goal percentage (.518) as a freshman in 2006-07.

Tennessee is coming off a 24-11 season where it reached the third round of the NCAA tournament. The Vols return four starters this season.
