San Diego State added Arkansas-Pine Bluff to its 2008-09 schedule.
Sept. 9, 2008
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher announced Tuesday the addition of Arkansas-Pine Bluff to the team's 2008-09 schedule. In addition, the Aztecs' home date vs. TCU has also been finalized, the Mountain West Conference released late last week.
SDSU will take on the Golden Lions of the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Monday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. PT inside Cox Arena. The contest is one of seven non-conference home games and will be the last prior to the opening of the Mountain West season on Jan. 3 at Air Force.
Meanwhile, the game date has been set for the first meeting of 2008-09 between San Diego State and TCU. SDSU will play host to the Horned Frogs inside Cox on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m. The original meeting had the two schools set to play on either Jan. 27 or 28. Once the league television schedule was finalized, it was determined the game would be played on Jan. 28. The MWC tilt will be televised by CBS College Sports.
This season San Diego State is expected to return all five starters and its top seven scorers from a year ago, including all-conference performers Lorrenzo Wade (first team), Ryan Amoroso (third team) and Billy White (third team and freshman of the year). When returning at least four starters off of a team he coached the season before, Fisher-led clubs have advanced to the postseason and won at least 21 games the previous eight times.
SDSU will make its first appearance of the season in an exhibition game against Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. PT and will get its regular season underway on Saturday, Nov. 15, vs. UC San Diego at 1 p.m. PT. Both games will be held at Cox Arena.
