Head Coach Tom Green
Sept. 1, 2005
HACKENSACK, NJ - Fairleigh Dickinson University men's head basketball coach Tom Green announced the 2005-06 schedule on Thursday, September 1. The Knights will play a 28-game regular season schedule with the Northeast Conference Tournament to be held at the home court of the higher seed on March 2, 5 and 8. Times for all games will be announced at a later date.
The Knights open the 2005-06 season at the Guardian Classic, Nov. 12-13, held at West Virginia University Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Knights will first take on Wofford before facing either West Virginia or Louisiana Monroe.
Fairleigh Dickinson travels to ACC foe Maryland on Nov. 26 before opening the home season against Dowling on Nov. 26. The Knights open the conference season when they play host to Quinnipiac on Nov. 29. December begins with three straight road games for the Knights, traveling to Canisius on Dec. 2, Seton Hall on Dec. 5 and conference opponent Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 10. After hosting Drexel on Dec. 17, the Knights will end the month on the road with tilts at St. Peters on Dec. 22 and Louisville on Dec. 28.
The new year opens with the Knights entering the heart of the conference schedule, hosting St. Francis PA on Jan. 5. The squad will then travel to Central Connecticut State on Jan. 12 and Quinnipiac on Jan. 14. After hosting St. Francis NY (1/21) and Sacred Heart (1/23), the Knights play at St. Francis PA (1/26) and Robert Morris (1/28).
The first week of February will see the Knights host Long Island (2/2), play at NEC Championship runner-up Wagner (2/4) and then host Robert Morris on Feb. 6. FDU plays at Long Island on Feb. 9 and will play Mount St. Mary's on its own court on Feb. 11. The Knights take a quick break from conference action for the Bracket Buster Game on Feb. 18 and return at Sacred Heart (2/16) and Monmouth (2/21). FDU closes out the regular season at home against Wagner on Feb. 23 and Monmouth on Feb. 27.
"This schedule is without question the most difficult we've had," said Green. "We don't face any easy games and we'll be starting a week earlier than we normally do, opening the season right away at the Guardian Classic."
"It will be very challenging, to say the least," said Green. "We have strong non-conference competition in road games against Maryland, projected to be a top-20 team, and Louisville, a 2004-05 final four participant. Playing against in-state rival Seton Hall at the Meadowlands is another highlight, and we'll be competing against St. Peter's and Drexel, both of which had good seasons last year."
