James Carr has informed head men's basketball coach Fran McCaffery that he will not return to the Siena basketball program. Carr completed two years at Siena, red-shirting his freshman season before serving as a reserve center for this past year's MAAC Championship team.

"I had a great experience at Siena, but I am hoping to pursue an opportunity that will allow me to play more," Carr said. "I appreciate the support the Siena community has given me the past two years and as I made this difficult decision. I wish my teammates and friends the best of luck."

Carr appeared in 10 games this past season averaging two minutes per appearance. He blocked four shots, scored two points and grabbed two rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

"James is a tremendous person and was a valuable member of our program," head coach Fran McCaffery said. "I respect and understand the reasons behind his decision. We will all follow his progress closely, and wish him great success in the future."

Siena posted a 23-11 overall record in 2007-2008, claimed the MAAC Regular-Season and Tournament Championship and knocked off Vanderbilt in the NCAA Tournament First Round. All five starters return next season.
