Raleigh, N.C. - Former NC State men's basketball player Ilian Evtimov has inked a two-year contract with VidiVici Bologna of the Italian Serie A, Italy's highest division of professional basketball. VidiVici went 19-15 last season, and finished ninth out of the 18 teams. Evtimov got his first taste of professional basketball in May, when he played with Adecco Estudiantes in Spain's top division for the last month of the season.

Evtimov will be reminded of the NC State/North Carolina rivalry while with VidiVici, as former Tar Heel center Kris Lang is also on the squad. He also will have to endure a sibling rivalry as well, as his older brother Vasco has signed with Upea Capo, another team in the Italian Serie A division, and one of VidiVici's top rivals.

Known as a prolific passer and three-point threat, Evtimov's 1,214 career points ranks 32nd in NC State history, while his 131 appearances with the red and white place third in the record books. After earning his degree in communications during the summer of 2005, Evtimov remained at NC State for his senior season with the Pack, helping the team to its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Evtimov collected second-team All-ACC Tournament honors as a junior in 2004-05 while leading the league in three-point shooting against conference foes. As a freshman in 2001-02, Evtimov was an honorable mention choice for the All-ACC Rookie Team, missing the first-team by just one vote. He has also been named to the All-ACC Academic Team each of the last two years.
