MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Gazelle Group has announced the match ups for the 2006 2K Sports College Hoops Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

The Central Michigan University Chippewas will face Youngstown State in the season opener on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Michigan State will host Brown in the other regional first-round game. The two first-round winners will play each other on Thursday, Nov. 9, for the right to advance to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York City. There will also be a regional consolation game.

A total of 16 teams are playing in four regionals across the country during the opening week. Other regional hosts are Texas, St. John's and Maryland. The winner of each regional round will compete for the championship Nov. 16-17.

Last year, Florida defeated Syracuse in the championship game of the classic before the Gators went on to win the NCAA title.

2K Sports will be the title sponsor of the event for the second consecutive year. 2K Sports develops and publishes the popular and highly acclaimed 2K series of sports video games including the "College Hoops 2K" series. 2K Sports is known for delivering the most innovative and realistic sports simulation gaming experience to fans every year.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program, created by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and American Cancer Society, exists to leverage the strength, community leadership and celebrity of our country's basketball coaches to raise awareness and reduce cancer risk through education programs while raising funds for Coaches vs. Cancer. Since 1996, the Event has raised approximately $3.3 million for the benefit of Coaches vs. Cancer.
