CINCINNATI -- -
The 2008 NBA Pre-Draft Camp begins tonight at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex outside of Orlando and it will have a strong Xavier University presence. The camp usually gives a good indication as to who the NBA feels are the top prospects in the upcoming June 26 NBA Draft. The 2008 pre-draft camp runs from May 27-30 and features drills and games, plus official measurements taken of player heights, weights, etc.
Sixty four of the top draft prospects will participate in the camp, including 2008 Xavier University graduates Josh Duncan and Stanley Burrell. Fifteen other players will take part only in physicals and skills, strength and agility work. Xavier is one of only 12 schools that have multiple players at this week's camp, a list that also includes Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

Both Duncan and Burrell participated in the pre-Orlando Portsmorth camp in April and played well. In fact, Duncan was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Burrell was the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, A-10 All-Defensive Team and A-10 Third Team selection while Duncan earned Sixth Man of the Year and A-10 Second Team. Duncan earned a spot on the five-member NCAA West Region All-Tournament Team. Burrell earned a spot on the Rivals.com National All-Defensive First Team and the National Defensive All-America Team selected by collegeinsider.com. Burrell was also named by Seth Davis (Sports Illustrated and CBS) as the Captain of the ninth annual "All-Glue" Team.
The men's basketball team won a school record 30 games and reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for the second time in five years. Xavier is one of only nine schools that have made the NCAA Tournament "Elite Eight" multiple times in the last five years: North Carolina (3), UCLA (3), Kansas (3), Memphis (3), Xavier (2), Louisville (2), Texas (2), Florida (2) and Connecticut (2). XU advanced to the "Elite Eight" for the first time in school history in 2004. Xavier's men's basketball ranking of 12th in the final Associated Press Poll equals the school-record ranking of 12th set in the AP Final Poll prior to the 2003 NCAA Tournament. Xavier's ranking of eighth in the post-tournament USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll is a school record.
