O.J. Mayo, the North College Hill standout considered the top high school basketball player in the nation, has been suspended from school for 180 days, according to WKRC-TV in Cincinnati.

The local CBS affiliate reported Monday night that the 18-year-old rising senior was disciplined for an altercation with a female student last week.

No further details have been released about the incident or the suspension. Joe Nickel, athletics director at the Cincinnati high school, did not return phone calls for comment Tuesday.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Saturday that Mayo, a 6-foot-4 combo guard twice named Mr. Basketball in the state of Ohio, has been considering a transfer to Oak Hill Academy, a prep school in Mouth of Wilson, Va.
