RUSTON, La. (AP) - Louisiana Tech announced it will not renew the contract of men's basketball coach Keith Richard.
"This was a tough decision because of the way Keith Richard has poured his heart and soul into the program," athletic director Jim Oakes said on Tuesday. "Unfortunately, a change in direction is needed for the program. Keith Richard is an outstanding basketball coach."
Richard compiled a record of 150 wins and 117 losses in his nine years as head coach. The Bulldogs went 10-20 and lost in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament this season.
"I am proud of my body of work over the whole nine years as head coach," Richard said. "I look forward to the future and wish everyone the best."
Richard first joined the Louisiana Tech staff as an assistant in 1994.
