AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Junior point guard Chris Lowe had a triple-double as Massachusetts defeated La Salle (14-15, 8-7), 100-63, in a key Atlantic 10 game Wednesday night.
Lowe had 14 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds to register the sixth triple-double in school history.
The two teams entered the game tied for third in the league. UMass (20-9, 9-6), which won 20 games for the second straight season, stayed in a tie for third with Richmond.
UMass stretched its lead to 20 points late in the first half and never looked back. The margin reached 42 at 100-58 with 28 seconds left.
Nine players scored in double figures, including all three UMass seniors who were honored before their final regular season home game. Gary Forbes led the Minutemen with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Dante Milligan added 18 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots.
La Salle freshman Jerrell Williams led the Explorers with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
