Charleston, S.C. - There will be two new faces among the Bulldog basketball squad next season as The Citadel Athletics Department and basketball head coach Pat Dennis announced the signing of two National Letters-of-Intent on Friday. The two signees, Florida native Reed Baker and David Bookman, of Texas, will join the ranks of The Citadel in the fall of 2006.

"We are excited to sign these two outstanding young men," Dennis said. "Both of them have great potential for our program and could have an important impact as freshmen."

Baker, a 6-1, 175-pound guard, plays for Matt Herting at Bishop Verot High School in Naples, Fla. Baker has earned three varsity letters in basketball and averaged 23.5 points, five assists and five boards per game, while shooting 88 percent from the free throw line. Named the Southwest Florida Player of the Year in 2005, Baker made second team all-state as a junior. During his senior season he averaged 20.6 points and 4.8 assists per game.

Bookman is 6-7, 215-pound forward/guard who plays at Southwest Fort Worth High School under the direction of Scott Gray in Fort Worth, Texas. Bookman, also a three-year letterman, is averaging 19.1 points and 9.9 boards a game and was a member of the Southwest High School Texas state playoff bi-district championship squad.

"They are both are very competitive, tough and skilled basketball players," Dennis added. "They are a great fit for The Citadel and our Bulldog Basketball Program."
