NEW YORK (AP) - James Williams was 16-for-18 from the free throw line and scored 23 points as Long Island University rallied from a 20-point first-half deficit to overtake Quinnipiac 76-72 Saturday.

Keellen Allen had 13 points and Derek Bell added 12 for the Blackbirds (10-13, 7-7 Northeast Conference). Aubin Scott of the Blackbirds had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Rob Monroe scored 34 points, 20 in the opening half, for the Bobcats (9-13, 5-8), who led 38-26 at halftime.

Monroe had seven points in a 17-0 run that gave Quinnipiac a 28-11 lead with 7:52 left in the first half. He made three free throws that gave the Bobcats their largest lead of the game, 33-13.

Williams had six points as LIU went 10-0 the rest of the half.

Bell's 3-pointer gave the Blackbirds the lead for good at 51-49 with 8:11 to go. They built it to 65-56 on a dunk by Scott with 1:50 left.
