Orem, UT- Utah Valley State men's basketball players Peter Brown and Richard Troyer have earned Division I Independent Men's Basketball All-Academic honors for their efforts on the court and in the classroom this season.

Brown is a senior from Long Beach, CA. who carries a 3.8 GPA with a major in Psychology. On the court Brown has started in all 21 games for Utah Valley. He is playing 15 minutes a game and shooting 54 percent from the field.

Troyer is a junior from Belize City, Belize. He is a Business Management major with a 3.2 GPA. Troyer has played in all 21 games and averaged 21 minutes a night. He is scoring 6.8 points and grabbing 4.6 rebounds a contest.

"It's a great honor for Peter and Richard and it reflects their discipline and commitment to their education," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "It's a compliment to our program to have student-athletes that maximize their educational opportunity."

Nominations were accepted for student-athletes with sophomore academic standing and a 3.2 cumulative GPA. Seven of the 11 Independent teams were represented on the honor squad, which has a combined grade-point average of 3.46.
