FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Joel Green's two free throws with 1.9 seconds left pushed Rider University past Fairfield 64-63 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play on Friday night.
The Broncs (10-6, 4-2) erased an 11-point deficit in the final 6:48 to beat Fairfield for the second time in 10 days.
Terrance Mouton led Rider with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including five 3-pointers. Harris Mansell added 15 points.
Freshman Greg Nero led Fairfield (3-15, 1-5) with 14 points and Marty O'Sullivan and Michael Van Schaick each added 12. It was the fifth straight loss for the Stags.
O'Sullivan's layup with 7:14 remaining gave Fairfield a 55-44 advantage, but the Broncs scored seven straight points over the next 44 seconds to get within striking distance.
With 3:32 remaining, the Stags' lead was 62-54, but Rider then scored eight straight points to tie the game. After Jonathan Han made 1-of-2 foul shots to give the Stags a 63-62 lead with 26 seconds remaining, Rider missed two shots before Green was fouled going to the basket.
The Stags out-rebounded Rider 34-23, but the Broncs shot 48 percent from the floor while Fairfield shot only 38.8 percent.
