KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior center Carlton Aaron has been named Mid-Continent Conference Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, the league announced today.
Aaron helped the Kangaroos post three straight Mid-Con victories last week with three consecutive double-double performances of scoring and rebounding.
In UMKC's 77-61 road victory at IUPUI Jan. 3, Aaron scored 14 points and snared 12 rebounds. He finished the contest 7-of-10 from the floor. In an 88-77 home win against Southern Utah Jan. 6, Aaron notched his second double-double by scoring a career-high 22 points (on 9-for-11 shooting) and grabbing 17 rebounds. He finished the week with another double-double in the Kangaroos' 70-66 road victory at Centenary Jan. 8, scoring 18 points and corralling 16 boards. He turned in another solid night of shooting with a 9-for-11 mark from the field. His layup with 4:51 remaining erased an eight-point Centenary lead and put UMKC ahead for good.
