2007-08 Men's Basketball Division I Top 25 Poll Announced - #3

Mountain State (W.V.) remains at No. 1 for the third straight time

Jan. 9, 2008

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -With a perfect 14-0 record, Mountain State University (W.V.) remains No. 1 in the third regular season National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Division I Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Jan. 9). The Cougars have been No. 1 in three of the four polls this season. MSU leads the country in scoring offense averaging over 105 points per contest - the Cougars have hit the 100-point mark in nine of their first 14 games.

Georgetown (Ky.) and Concordia (Calif.) stay at No. 2 and 3, respectively. LSU-Shreveport notched two of the first-place votes as the Pilots hold a perfect 13-0 record. The Pilots have already earned two victories over NCAA Division I opponents, in addition to a Division I exhibition win. Most recently, the Pilots took down Northwestern State (La.) back on Dec. 8.

Lee (Tenn.) moved up to No. 5 thanks in large part to a 77-75 win over NCAA Division I member East Carolina back on Dec. 29.

Southern Nazarene (Okla.) made perhaps the biggest leap all the way up to No. 13. Last Saturday, SNU picked up a 74-69 road win at then-No. 13 Oklahoma City. Two teams, No. 24 Montana State-Northern and No. 25 Jarvis Christian (Texas) both are in the poll for first time in 2007-08.

The fourth regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
