MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -Kansas State freshman Bill Walker will have surgery on his left knee and be out for the rest of the season.
The 6-foot-6 Walker ruptured an ACL on Saturday in the first few minutes of a 69-65 loss at No. 11 Texas A&M, the school said Monday. He was injured when he was fouled on a drive to the basket.
The injury was diagnosed with an MRI Sunday and further tests Monday. Walker will be out six to eight months. He averaged 11.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in six games.
Ranked the No. 6 recruit in the country by Rivals.com, he is the most highly sought freshman ever to play for the Wildcats.
