Stony Brook, N.Y. - Former Seawolves catcher Craig Ansman has been selected to the California League (A) All-Star team and will play in the 2002 MBNA California/Carolina League All-Star Game to be held in Wilmington, Delaware on June 18. Ansman is the starting backstop for the Lancaster JetHawks, the single-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the advanced 'A' California League.

Ansman was selected by the league as the back-up catcher for the All-Star Game. In 51 games this season, Ansman is batting .275 with eight homeruns and 25 runs batted in. The 24 year-old backstop also has 11 doubles and 28 runs scored this season.

Ansman is in his third season with the Diamondbacks organization after signing as a free agent after a stellar four-year career at Stony Brook from 1997-2000. The school's all-time home run leader began his career with the Missoula Osprey, the Diamondbacks' rookie team, before playing with the single 'A' South Bend Silver Hawks of the Midwest League last season.
