The Wake Forest men's baseball team and head coach Rick Rembielak have announced the signing of the next Demon Deacon recruiting class. The seven-member group that includes three pitchers, two position players and two two-way player will be arriving on campus for the start of the 2007-08 school year.
"Our recruiting goals have been met with the addition of these young men, "Rembielak said of the incoming class. "As important as it is to have skilled athletes on the field, it's equally as important to us to have great individuals as well. We look forward to having all of them join us to compete at the highest level in the ACC."

Selected as a Puma Pre-Season All-American in 2005 and 2006... ranked by Baseball America as one of the country's top 100 prospects for class of 2007... selected to play in the Perfect Game National Showcase, Tournament of Stars and East Coast Professional Showcase in summer of 2006... named to the 2006 Team One Cape Cod High School Classic, which chooses the top 32 high school baseball players in the country... selected to the 2005 TeamOne National Undergraduate Showcase... enters his high school year with a career pitching record of 24-6.

"Steven is a student of the game. His greatest assets are his speed and instinct on the bases. Evaluating Steven as a hitter, he is a very tough out at the plate with a great knowledge of the strike zone. As dangerous as he is to put a drag bunt down, he's equally as dangerous to drive the ball in the gaps for extra bases. We like his competitive spirit on the field."

Posted a 4-2 record with a 2.83 ERA his junior season, leading his team to the first place seed in the New York State Tournament... three-year letter winner at Poly Prep Country Day... played in the 2006 Perfect Game East Showcase as well as the Northeast Top Prospects Showcase... led his pitching staff in innings pitched his sophomore and junior seasons.

Selected to play for the Chicago White Sox in Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif... played for the Cleveland Indians at the East Coast Professional Baseball Showcase in Wilmington, N.C., where he was ranked the 24th-best prospect... named to the Charlotte Observer's All-Observer team, the North Carolina All-State team and the Southwestern 4A All-Conference team as a junior... participated in the State Games as a junior... his Providence High School team was conference regular season and tournament champions his sophomore year... has been named to his school's honor roll every quarter throughout high school, carrying a 4.1 GPA.

"Ryan gives us pitching versatility where he can be used in many roles. He has the capability to function in all roles from being a starter to closing a game. Ryan is a sidearm thrower on the mound who gives hitters a greater challenge in seeing the ball. Each time we saw Ryan, hitters did not have much success off of him. Ryan will also give us depth in the infield, if needed. He is capable of changing his arm slot for the infield and gives us options with him both as an infielder and hitter."

Pitcher of the Year and Scholastic Player of the Year as a junior... helped Glenn High School to the Piedmont Triad 3A Championship... has tossed two career no-hitters and holds an undefeated high school record... leads the team in strikeouts and ERA... has been named to his school's honor roll every semester, carrying a 4.57 GPA... member of Glenn High School's chapter of the National Honor Society and is the president of the Key Club.
