PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA. - Jim Baxter pitched four strong innings for the win and Jeremy Hunt knocked in three runs to lead team Blue to an 8-1 victory over the White squad in game one of Villanova Baseball's annual Blue/White Intrasquad World Series. Team Blue now leads team White, 1-0, in a best of three series played at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth.

Team Blue jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and never looked back at they cruised to a decisive 8-1 victory.

Baxter, in his first competitive action since undergoing Tommy John Surgery last year, threw four innings to earn the win. He allowed just one run on two hits in four innings, striking out four and walking two. Relievers Scott Gelley and Ryan Wendler combined for three shutout innings to seal the win. Gelley threw two scoreless frames, striking out three. Wendler tossed a scoreless seventh inning.

Taking the loss for team White was senior Nick Allen, who allowed three runs on four hits in four innings of work, striking out one. The White squad was hampered by four defensive miscues, leading to several unearned runs. Gus Guida came on in relief of Allen and threw two scoreless innings. Russ Roberts pitched the seventh, allowing six runs.

On offense for team Blue, St. Petersburg College transfer Jeremy Hunt went three-for-four with a double, triple and three RBI, while freshman shortstop Derek Shunk went three-for-four with one RBI. In addition, senior third baseman Angelo Petracca went one-for-four with an RBI.

For the White squad, Delaware transfer Rob Parks hit a solo home run to account for the team's only run.

The two teams will get back into action on Tuesday, at 3:10 p.m., at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth. The probable starters for game two are sophomores Kevin Mulvey (for team Blue) and Mike Loree (for team White).
