FAIRFIELD, CT - The 2006 Sacred Heart Univeristy baseball team will receive their Northeast Conference Championship rings at half time of the September 16th football game against Iona College. The weekend will also feature the annual Alumni Game at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport on Sunday.

The NEC title was the first for the Pioneer baseball program. After beating Central Connecticut State University for the title, the team made its first-ever trip to the NCAA Regionals. In the NCAAs they travelled to Athens, GA and took on the University of Georgia and Jacksonville University.

All alumni, parents, and friends of the program are invited to help the team celebrate its championship season. Beginning one hour prior to kick-off and throughout the football game, there will be a tent set up on the sidelines of Campus Field with food and refreshments for all who attend.

The following day, September 17th, the annual Alumni game will be played at Harbor Yard. All former players are invited to partake in the game, and all families are also invited to join the festivities. Batting practice will begin at 10 a.m, with infield-outfield starting around 11, and the first game beginning at 11:30.

Any former players who are interested in being involved in the game, please email me Chris Aldrich, Director of baseball operations at: c-aldrich@sacredheart.edu, or call at (203) 396-8205.

In the event of a chance of rain prior to the weekend, please contact Coach Nick Giaquinto at (203) 365-7632.
