Sacramento, CA - Just over a year removed from his last game as a Wagner Seahawk, Andrew Bailey (Haddon Heights, NJ / Paul VI) has ascended to the Triple A ranks of minor league baseball, one level below the Major Leagues. Bailey has been promoted to the Sacramento River Cats (Oakland A's affiliate) of the Pacific Coast League and will start on Monday against the Tuscan Sidewinders. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 pm (EST).
The short 49 mile trek to Sacramento from Stockton (CA) is Bailey's second promotion of the summer after beginning the year in Low A Kane County (IL).
Bailey has been dominating the California League, since being promoted to the High A Stockton Port in early July. He made an immediate impression for the Ports striking out 10 while yielding just two runs over 5.2 innings in his first game, a 4-2 victory over Bakersfield on July 6. He recorded a deceiving 3-4 record for Stockton, striking out 72 batters over 66.0 innings with a robust 3.82 ERA and gave up two earned runs or less in eight of his 11 starts.

Overall, he has struck out 146 batters over 117.0 innings and posted a 3.46 ERA in 22 appearances, 21 starts, between Kane County and Stockton in his first full professional season.
Last season, the 2006 Oakland A's sixth round pick was ranked as the 17th best Pro Prospect in the Northwest League after a stellar debut with the Vancouver Canadians after going 2-5 with 53 strikeouts and a 2.02 ERA in 58.0 innings.
