Stony Brook, N.Y. - Tony Stutz, who played baseball at Stony Brook in 2001 and 2002, pitched one perfect inning for the independent Northeast League All-Stars as they took on the Central League on July 20, in Fort Worth, Texas. Stutz is the third Stony Brook alum to make a professional all-star team this summer, joining Craig Ansman, who played in the triple-A all-star game, and Joe Nathan, who pitched for the American League in the Major League mid-summer classic.

Stutz worked one inning for the Northeast League squad in a 9-4 loss to the Central League, setting down all three batters he faced, including one strikeout. This season with the Brockton Rox, Stutz has posted a 4-1 record with one save and a 2.38 ERA in 28 appearances out of the bullpen. He has held opposing hitters to a .208 batting average in 34 innings of work.
