Scobee Named To ABCA/Rawlings West Region Second Team

Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada senior outfielder Shawn Scobee has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings West Region second-team as selected by the 34 division I coaches in the region. Scobee was drafted in the 14th round as the 420th overall pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2006 First-Year Major League Baseball Draft in June. He played two seasons for the Wolf Pack after transferring from Cal State Fullerton.

The Rio Linda, Calif. native earned first-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors this past season after leading the conference in home runs(22), slugging percentage(.847), and total bases(144). He finished second in the conference with a .371 batting average, .538 on base percentage, and 20 times being hit by pitch. In total he ranked in the top 10 in nine offensive categories in the conference. His .42 home runs per game and .847 slugging percentage ranked second in NCAA I baseball.

The two-year starter put a dent in the Wolf Pack record book blasting 40 career home runs to rank third all-time at Nevada while his .847 slugging percentage this season is tops in school history. The 22 home runs this year is the third best single season in school history while the 18 he belted last year is tied for the fourth best year in school history.
