GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina freshman right-hander Adam Warren was named to the inaugural All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Baseball Team, league commissioner John D. Swofford announced Thursday.
Warren, who also received an academic achievement award at the 2006 College World Series for earning the highest GPA on the Carolina team, went 1-0 with a 4.81 ERA in 15 appearances this season. The New Bern native made three midweek starts for the Tar Heels and struck out 15 in 24.1 innings.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
