BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Kevin Cope, a junior catcher on the UAB baseball team, has been selected to play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) All-Star Game in Watertown, N.Y. on July 7. Cope is batting .324 with 15 RBI and five doubles for the Athletes in Action Bolivar A's.

"All of us in the UAB baseball family are thrilled for Kevin," said UAB head coach Brian Shoop. "He is a great worker and there is no finer young man. It really couldn't happen to a nicer person. He has worked so hard to get back from his arm injuries so I know it is a thrill to be catching on a daily basis. We also know that Kevin is growing in his faith playing with Athletes in Action so it has been a positive experience in every facet of life."

Cope hit .357 with eight RBI in 15 games played for the Blazers this past spring.

The all-star game will get underway at 7:00 p.m. on July 7th.
