MORGANTOWN, Va. - Gonzaga University pitcher Cody Martin has been named to the Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Freshman All-America Second Team.

The 6-2, 200-pound right-hander from Dos Palos, Calif., appeared in 26 games for the Bulldogs in 2008, 24 of them in relief. He posted a 4-1 record with a 2.80 ERA and set the Gonzaga single-season saves record with nine. He worked 54.2 innings, striking out 51, walking 14 and holding opponents to a .249 batting average.

An All-West Coast Conference honorable mention and All-Freshman Team selection, he made eight appearances in WCC action, including two starts, as he posted a 3-0 record and three saves.
