TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State redshirt sophomore outfielder Jason Kipnis has been named the Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year, the conference announced today. Kipnis transferred to Arizona State after spending last season with Kentucky. He is the second Sun Devil to win the award, joining Ike Davis, who was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2006.

Kipnis (Northbrook, Ill.) is batting .367 with 13 homers and 67 RBI and is the Pac-10's leading base stealer with 22 stolen bases. Kipnis has also been fantastic in the outfield, playing all three spots as well as spending some time at second base this season.
