Arizona State University junior catcher and team captain Petey Paramore has been named a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award. The Coleman Company, along with AT&T and Papa John's Pizza give the award annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher.
Paramore (Allen, Texas) is a two-time First Team All-Pac-10 performer, was named First Team Academic All-Pac-10 selection in 2007 and was recently named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selection. He is batting .326 with six homers and 39 RBI and is leading the Pac-10 with 45 walks.
Paramore is one of 12 semifinalists for the award. Three finalists will be announced on June 3, with the announcement of the winner on June 27.
