Sophomre Eric Morrison drove in game-winning run
May 5, 2006
Norristown, Pa. - Senior Scott Chisholm pitched two-hit scoreless ball over the last seven innings for a 6-5 complete-game, come-from-behind victory over Saint Joseph's at Latshaw-McCarthy Field in the Philadelphia suburbs Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Eric Morrison's two-out single drove in classmate Derek Mechling with the winning run in the sixth.
Duquesne (14-29, 8-11 Atlantic 10) kicked off the scoring in the top of the first with an unearned run from one of the Hawks' four errors. Freshman Anthony Manley's single drove in Mechling to give the Dukes a 1-0 lead.
St. Joe's (16-31, 8-11 A-10) responded with two in their first at-bat and three in the second to go in front, 5-1. The Dukes scored one in the fifth and four the following frame for the 6-5 lead. Sophomore Aaron Janusey's two-run homer paced the Red and Blue attack. Duquesne was error-less in the field from the third on, to help preserve the win.
The win puts both teams in a tie with Massachusetts for ninth in the league standings. The squads resume play Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. and then close the three-game series Sunday at noon.
