Boston, Mass. - After spotting Harvard a 2-0 lead in the championship game of the 17th annual Beanpot Tournament, Boston College took control to post a 10-2 win over the Crimson at Fenway Park.

Boston College rode the strong arm of righty Ted Ratliff and a perfect 7-for-7, seven-RBI effort out of its eighth and ninth place hitters to claim its seventh Beanpot title. Ratliff, who threw 126 pitches in the complete-game win, helped his Eagles improve to 22-20-1 overall with the win while Harvard dips to 18-15-1 with the loss.

Harvard jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Matt Vance led off with a walk and Chris Mackey was then hit by a pitch. After pulling off a double steal to get in scoring position, Lance Salsgiver doubled off the Green Monster to get both runners home. BC starter Ted Ratliff worked out of trouble from that point however, stranding a pair of runners in scoring position.

In the second inning a walk, single and a hit-batsman loaded the bases with no outs for the Eagles. Jett Ruiz got one of the runs home with an RBI groundout before Ryne Reynoso brought home another run with a double down the line. Pete Fretes followed with a two-run single up the middle on an 0-2 pitch to make the score 4-2 in favor of BC.

Reynoso added an RBI single in the fourth and Shawn McGill brought in another run with an RBI groundout in the fifth. Behind Ratliff, BC then all but put the game out of reach in the sixth when Fretes deposited a two-run homer into the bullpen in right field.

After allowing a pair of runs in the first, Ratliff settled down, striking out nine and allowing just three hits with three walks in the complete-game effort (5-0). He has now allowed just six hits and two earned runs in his last 26 innings of work. Frates had a big day batting out of the ninth hole with a 4-for-4 day and five RBI. He added an RBI single in the seventh, while Adam Hutchinson brought home the 10th run with a bunt single in the inning. Both runs were unearned.

Harvard returns to action tomorrow when the Crimson hosts the University of Rhode Island at 3:30 p.m. at O'Donnell Field.
