CLEVELAND, Ohio - After posting the game-winning hit in the Vikings' only game last week sophomore Matt Madrid was named Horizon League Athlete of the Week after. The honor is the first of
Madrid keyed CSU's 14-11 home opener win over Kent State on April 3 with a 3-for-4 performance that included the go-ahead three-run double in the eighth inning and a solo home run in the third. The
"Matt has been playing very well lately and is well-deserving of this award," head coach Kevin Kocks said. "He has really been swing the bat well in the last few games."
After having four of their five games cancelled last week due to snow, the Vikings return to action with a doubleheader at Youngstown State on Tuesday (April 10) at 3:00 p.m. CSU will then travel to Niagara for a 3:00 p.m. contest the next day.
