TEMPE, Ariz. -
Leading Off: Arizona State returns to Tempe for a three-game set with the Washington Huskies after opening Pac-10 play in Pullman last weekend. The Sun Devils took two of three from the Cougars before falling to Arizona in the Challenge at Chase. The Huskies come in to the weekend with a 3-3 conference record after beating UCLA twice in Los Angeles. Friday night will see reigning Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week Tim Lincecum square off with the conference's Player of the Week, Andrew Romine.
Pitching Rotation: The Sun Devils are still undecided as to who will be in their starting rotation this weekend. Daryl Arreola, Matt Trink and Pat Bresnehan all got starts last weekend in Pullman, with Frank Mesa getting the call against Arizona. Tony Barnette, Josh Satow or Brett Bruneel are other possible starters this weekend.
The Sun Devils vs. The Huskies: The Sun Devils are 14-10 all-time against U-Dub. Last season the Huskies took two of three from ASU in Seattle on the second to last conference weekend. Washington also took two of three from ASU in 2004, the last time they traveled to Tempe.
Player of the Week: Sophomore shortstop Andrew Romine was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week and a College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll Player of the Week for his performance last weekend. Romine becomes the second Sun Devil to earn Pac-10 Player of the Week honors, joining freshman Ike Davis. Davis has also been named a National Honor Roll Player of the Week this year, as has freshman Jeff Urlaub.
Rankings: ASU fell one spot to #13 in the Collegiate Baseball poll this week. They are also ranked #13 in Baseball America, up one from a week ago. The Sun Devils are #12 in both the NCBWA poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
