A seven-run fourth inning lifted the Frederick Keys to a 10-4 win over Mount St. Mary's in a baseball exhibition game at Harry Grove Stadium on Tuesday night. The Mount grabbed an early 2-0 lead, but the Keys used a 14-hit attack to earn the victory.  Frederick, a Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, won the Carolina League last season.

The Mount jumped a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning.  Ryan Murray doubled to center field to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a passed ball.  Justus Yocum then singled to right field to plate the game's first run.  Yocum advanced to second on a sacrifice hit, stole third base and scored on Matt Trusch's double to right center.

Frederick answered with a run in the bottom of the third on a Jason Fransz sacrifice fly.  The Keys broke the game open with a seven-run fourth.  Brian Bock's two-run double gave the Keys a 3-2 lead.  Travis Brown added a run-scoring single and Bryan Bass blasted a three-run homer to right for a 7-2 advantage.  Nolan Reimold's solo shot rounded out the scoring in the inning.

Mount St. Mary's added a run in the fifth when Matt Staso's ground out plated Yocum, who doubled to lead off the inning.  Josh McCurdy hit a solo homer to right field and Peter Shier scored on a balk in the bottom of the inning for a 10-3 Keys lead.  The Mount scored the final run of the game when Matt Eiden stole home on a double steal.

Yocum went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base to lead the Mount offense.  Gioioso added two hits and a steal in the loss.  McCurdy was 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored for the Keys while Paco Figueroa went 4-for-4 with a double in the win.

"It was a great effort for us," said Mount St. Mary's head coach Scott Thomson.  "Not only did we play against a professional team with high draft picks, we had a chance to win.  We played the game at a high level today and it will definitely help us in conference play."

Brian Perkins started for the Mount and pitched a scoreless inning. Bucky Kosyk and Lynn Fuller also pitched scoreless innings as the Mount used seven pitchers in the game.  David Haehnel earned the win for Frederick, allowing two runs while striking out four in four innings of work.

The Mount returns to action on Saturday when Wagner visits Golibart Field for a noon doubleheader.
