WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman Allan Dykstra was named to Baseball America's Fab 50: Freshmen, the magazine announced Tuesday. Dykstra, a 6-5 first basemen, was listed as the No. 41 freshman prospect in the country.

Dykstra, the only Demon Deacon newcomer to be drafted out of high school, started at Rancho Bernardo HS since his sophomore season. He helped the perennial powerhouse to the Palomar League Championship and a second-place finish in the CIF playoffs. Dykstra was one of 30 players in the entire country that was selected to the 18-and-under Junior National Team in 2004. He also attended the Perfect Game Western Underclass Showcase where he was named the #2 Top Prospect.

The Demon Deacons open practice on Thursday, Jan. 19, and will open the season with a two-game set at Charlotte beginning on Saturday, Feb. 11. First-pitch against the 49ers is scheduled for noon each day.
