BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB head baseball coach Brian Shoop unveiled the new-look Blazer baseball hats on Tuesday. The team will dawn a pair of hats this spring, one that is a solid green cap with a new Blazer `B' logo in gold, while the other cap is predominantly white with a green bill and Blazer `B'.

"We are excited to unveil our new hats which we hope will be the symbol of Blazer baseball for many years to come," Shoop said. "In the infancy of the UAB baseball program there was a single `B' on the hat. It is our hope that this new `B' will honor the men who have played and coached here in the past."

In addition to remembering the accomplishments of all previous UAB baseball players, Shoop also hopes the new look becomes a symbol of a new era in Blazer baseball.

"We hope this raised and more modern `B' will tie our past to our future, combining tradition with adventure and new expectations," Shoop said. "We hope this is a hat that all generations of Blazer fans will be proud of and will enjoy wearing. We hope to see this hat being worn all over the South."

The Blazers will have their first opportunity to sport their new-look hats on opening weekend at Young Memorial Field when Central Michigan comes to Birmingham for a three-game series Feb. 16-18.
