Sept. 29, 2006

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior All-American Jessica Gall paced the No. 26 Indiana women's cross country team with an 11th-place finish of 20:55.75 in the 6K of the inaugural Bill Dellinger Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon on Sept. 29. The Hoosiers finished seventh overall with 170 points among some of the nation's best teams.

Gall was followed by senior Lindsay Hattendorf with a time of 21:19.29 for 22nd. She was followed by sophomores Wendi Robinson (21:30.85, 28th), Stephanie Greer (22:22.17, 54th), and Kristina Trcka (22:29.42, 62nd). Freshman Hailee Elmore placed 64th with a time of 22:35.21 and was followed by sophomore Ashley Sommer (22:51.05, 72nd) and junior Maura Ratcliff (23:06.76, 80th).

"Jess pretty much ran the whole race with a stitch in her side. She really gutted it out," ninth-year head coach Judy Wilson said. "It was really dusty, so I think we had some trouble breathing. On a good day, we can really compete with these teams."

Eighth-ranked Arkansas took home the meet title with 35 points, while No. 5 Brigham Young (55 pts.) finished second and Wake Forest (117 pts.) placed third. BYU's Kassi Andersen took the individual title in a time of 19:54.09.
